Ten individuals convicted of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced charges of disseminating false claims regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A longstanding conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's identity.
Their complaint alleges that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The couple married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
